Auxiliary News

"Remember Auxiliary meetings held the 2nd Monday of every month at 7:00 PM at the American Legion Club. WE NEED YOUR THOUGHTS AND SUPPORT"

Well, here we are: Ringing out the old year and bringing in the new!

Looking back over the past year, we've done some amazing things! Started our mission of sending goods to our troops overseas, continue our coupon clipping, helped with furnishing food for funeral dinners and National Guard gatherings, helped with the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall and raised money for the Auxiliary cause, did the poppy drive, and the greatest of all were new members and the increase of attendance at meetings!

With more people, we can make more happen in the New Year! Our new members have such great insight to the needs of our troops! Thanks so much gals - -We're now doing more for our troops!

As we move forward in the New Year, new ideas are always welcomed! Thanks to Judy Adams and her computer skills, we're moving technology into our organization with the video for viewing at the Birthday Dinner held in March.

Just a few things to keep in mind; Late January will begin the interviews for Girls State. Anyone interested in doing interviews is welcome! I've done the interviews for a few years now and have to say it's very enlightening what the young ladies are doing! Gives new light to the next generations!

March is the Birthday Dinner. Speakers in the past have been very interesting!

In May (over Memorial Day Weekend) we have the Poppy Drive! It's only a few hours in a day we sell our poppies for a good will donation. This money is used for the veterans (with a small share for the Auxiliary cause)

As always as we move forward; new ideas are welcome and new ventures to be done!

As I close, I'd like to share with you a little poem I wrote. I hope it holds some meaning for the new year and our troops.

Happy New Year to America

Happy New Year to America,
Wrapped in its red and white and blue - -
We're ringing our the old one,
And bringing in the new!

In God we trust, as we always have,
Pledge our allegiance to the flag with pride - -
And hear our freedom ring out loud,
As we praise our country's ever stride!

We've fought to keep our freedom,
Many giving the ultimate sacrifice - -
We thank them all and never forget,
Our freedom has an endearing price!

So as we start the New Year,
Make a resolution to our land - -
Give thanks for all we've been given,
And let our freedom continue to stand!

Happy New Year everyone! God Bless America and our troops!

Remember our service people stationed overseas by clipping national coupons for grocery and other non-perishable items.  These coupons can be up to six months expired.  The coupons are sent to overseas  commissaries for use by our military families.  Drop coupons into the designated box at the Legion Post , bring them along to the monthly meeting, or mail them to the Post c/o Post 52 Auxiliary.
